Who We Are
Rocket Science Talent represents original talent for the entertainment industry. The agency was founded in 2009 by veteran talent agent Shawn Burns. A former protege to Sandra Marsh, Shawn became a force in the agency business by representing a renowned roster of international Visual Effects, Special Effects and Make-Up Effects department heads, which she developed over a ten year span. Shawn's clients were often ground-breakers whose original work advanced the effects industry.
A knack for recognizing and promoting artists began with an earlier career in the music industry. While in college selling "vinyl" in the local record store, Shawn was also promoting local musicians and working behind the scenes in concert production. Her knowledge of local music led to consulting concert promoters on their artist line-ups for music venues in her home state of Oklahoma, which included introducing new bands such as R.E.M. to the state. Eventually finding a new home within the record label Elektra/Asylum records during a peak with such artists as The Cars, Metallica, Motley Crue, 10,000 Maniacs and Tracy Chapman, and notable soundtracks such as "Cocktail," Shawn contributed to Elektra's publicity and soundtrack departments. Working with filmakers through soundtrack production provided the inspiration to pursue film production where Shawn succeeded with independent and short films, visual effects production, and ultimately as a talent agent. Promoting great talent (rocket scientists) has been a life long quest for Shawn and continues as her mission for the agency.
